Brady Anderson, right?

After all, it was Anderson who became a star in Baltimore after the Red Sox traded him to the O’s in the early 1990s, and then — somehow — popped 50 home runs in 1996.

So, yeah, a mid-1990s Oriole who wasn’t Cal Ripken or Rafael Palmeiro, connecting on a (maybe) dinger … that was Brady Anderson.

Except, it wasn’t.

Not in the case of 1995 Fleer Flair. Now, Brady does have his own card there, with his trademark sideburns on display. But he’s just standing there waiting for the pitch:

Nope, the HR dude in O’s duds in 1995 Flair was … Andy Van Slyke.

What? The same Andy Van Slyke of Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals fame? Yeah, that’s the one.

Because, on his way to a final short run with the Philadelphia Phillies late in 1995, Van Slyke stopped off in Baltimore for awhile (17 games) after signing on a free agent deal in April.

And that was just long enough for Fleer to snap Van Slyke connecting on … something.

Was it one of the three bombs he hit for the Orioles in 1995?

Maybe, maybe not. Whatever it was, he did it with, ahem, Flair.

Hobby Wow!

Of course, you can’t talk about the 1995 Orioles without thinking/talking about Cal Ripken and Lou Gehrig — that’s the year The Streak fell to Cal, after all. And there is all sorts of great memorabilia out there from that historic year, like this eBay Listing:

It’s a game-used Ripken jersey from 1995, with a COA. As you might expect, it doesn’t come cheap.
